Glass only, or the whole display?
On an iPhone the glass and the display are one sealed unit, so a cracked screen means a new display assembly. That’s actually good news: you get fresh touch, fresh color and no risk of the old damage spreading under a glass-only patch.
If the crack is only in a screen protector, we’ll tell you and swap the protector instead.
Should I still use it while it’s cracked?
You can, carefully. Put tape or a protector over it so glass doesn’t come loose, and back it up. Cracks let in moisture and dust, and a screen that still works today can go black next week.
FAQ
Does Face ID survive a screen replacement?
Yes. The Face ID hardware sits in the frame, not the screen. We move the earpiece and sensor flex over and test Face ID before you leave.
Will my screen say 'Unknown Part'?
Newer iPhones can show a notice in Settings after any screen replacement that isn’t done by Apple. It doesn’t affect how the phone works. We tell you about it up front.
How long does it take?
