Charging Problems
Phone not charging? It’s usually just the port.
Sand, lint and salt pack into the charging port until the cable can’t seat. A proper cleaning fixes most phones on the spot. If the port itself is worn or corroded, we replace it the same day.
What We Fix
- Port cleaning under magnification
- Lightning and USB-C port replacement
- Samsung and iPad ports
- Charges only at an angle, or only with one cable
- Wireless charging not working
- Slow charging and 'accessory not supported' errors
Not on the list? Text us a photo and the model and we’ll tell you in a minute.
Cleaning first, always
We don’t sell a port replacement to someone who needs a port cleaning. We open the port up under magnification, clear it out properly, and test with a known-good cable. If it charges, you go home.
If the pins are bent, corroded or the port is loose in the frame, then it’s a replacement, and you’ll know before we start.
Maui is hard on charging ports
Beach sand and salt air get into the port every day. If you’re in the water a lot, a quick clean every few months keeps the port alive a lot longer.
FAQ
Can I clean the port myself?
You can try gently with a wooden or plastic pick. Don’t use metal, and don’t use compressed air, which drives debris deeper. If it still won’t charge, bring it in.
My phone charges only at certain angles. Cleaning or replacement?
Nine times out of ten that’s packed debris, so cleaning. The other time it’s a worn port, and we’ll show you why.
